What is Reiki?
Reiki is a modality of energy healing that reduces stress while providing deep relaxation and greater wellbeing. Reiki is a Japanese word that means “universal life energy” and it is the transfer of healing energy from the universe – through the trained practitioner – to the client that stimulates the client’s own innate healing resources.
What is a Reiki session like?
During a Reiki session the client rests, comfortably clothed, and on the massage table as the practitioner applies light touch in a series of hand positions that focus healing energy to the energy centers of the body, the major organs and to areas requested by the client. Most clients experience deep relaxation or may fall asleep. Clients may also feel tingling, pulsing, a feeling of warmth and comfort or other sensations of energetic activity. Each client will receive the amount of energy they need to bring their mind and body into balance.
Reiki in Healthcare:
Reiki is appropriate for individuals in any state of health and complements medical treatment, psychological counseling and massage therapy. Hospitals such as Tucson Medical Center, Duke University Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center offer Reiki to a wide range of their patients. Recent research shows significant reduction of pain, reduced anxiety, improved immune and nervous system function and increased mobility amount patients. At Portsmouth Regional Hospital in New Hampshire, surgical patients decreased their use of pain medication, stayed for shorter periods, and reported increased satisfaction with pre and post-surgical Reiki sessions.
Can Anyone Learn Reiki?
Anyone can learn to treat himself or others with Reiki. Children, adults and seniors can all learn the Reiki method of natural healing and appreciate its value enough to use it every day.
Reiki Level I and II classes are usually held together and students learn to work on their own physical, mental and emotional concerns as well as learning how to share Reiki sessions with others. Advanced Reiki Techniques, Master Level and Karuna classes are also available. For more information on Reiki classes contact Debbie directly at: 706-566-8792 or firstname.lastname@example.org
